What Stampede does. Plainly.

No feature matrices. No buzzwords. Here’s what you get.

Stamp Sidebar

Pre-made marks. One-tap placement.

Create text-based stamps for any annotation you use. Chicago Manual abbreviations, your own shorthand, any correction system you prefer. Each stamp has configurable font, size, colour, and styling. Stamps live in a sidebar that’s always accessible. Search, drag onto the page, done. They persist across documents.

AI Proofreading

AI that assists. You that decides.

On-device AI using Apple’s Foundation Models flags spelling, grammar, and consistency issues for your review. This isn’t autocorrect. The AI highlights what it found; you decide what to stamp. Optional cloud AI available per-document for deeper analysis. Your documents stay private by default.

Text Selection

Selection that doesn’t fight you.

Custom text selection engine with a smooth green overlay. Less jumpy, more precise than standard iPad PDF selection. Mark up with highlights, underlines, or strikethroughs. Customisable colours. Every annotation type is a custom implementation for consistent behaviour across different PDF structures.

Research Panel

Look it up without leaving the page.

Select any text and open the Research panel. Instantly search in Google, Perplexity AI, Wikipedia, Merriam-Webster, Black’s Law Dictionary, Chicago Manual of Style. Add your own reference links. Organise by category. For proofreaders who verify facts, check spellings, and confirm citations.

Freehand Drawing

When stamps and highlights aren’t enough.

Pen, marker, and eraser tools. Apple Pencil pressure sensitivity. Optional line straightening and snap-to-shape for clean circles and arrows. For circling problem passages, drawing arrows between sections, or notes in margins.

Reading Modes

Kind to your eyes.

Sepia, green, and dark reading overlays reduce strain without altering the underlying PDF. Adjustable opacity. For the long sessions — three or four hours deep — when you need comfortable reading.

Multi-Tab

Several documents. Separate undo stacks.

Open multiple PDFs in tabs. Each document maintains its own annotations, scroll position, zoom level, and undo history (up to 50 operations). Useful for cross-referencing, comparing versions, or having your style guide alongside the manuscript.

Export

Send it how they need it.

Editable mode keeps annotations as interactive objects. Flattened mode burns them into the PDF permanently. Share via Files, email, Messages, AirDrop — whatever works.

It don’t require bells and whistles.

A proofreading tool made by people who think the best software is the kind you barely notice.
